Meet The Team

Wendy Lam
President
The President serves as the primary leader and representative of Nexus, ensuring that all activities align with the guidelines and statutes of the Örebro Student Union (ÖS). This role includes calling and leading board meetings, general assemblies, and extraordinary meetings, while actively managing communication across board members to foster a balanced workload and collaborative environment. Additionally, the President coordinates with other student sections and handles Nexus’s bank account alongside the Treasurer. By overseeing the overall organizational strategy and ensuring knowledge transfer to new board members, the President ensures stability, continuity, and a smooth transition for future leadership.

Filip Törnqvist
Treasurer
Responsible for Nexus’s financial management, the Treasurer oversees budgeting, manages the cash flow, and ensures timely payments for invoices and reimbursements. This role also involves attending ÖS treasurer forums to stay informed of best practices and funding opportunities, as well as actively seeking grants and contributions to support Nexus’s initiatives. The Treasurer partners with the President to manage Nexus’s bank account, ensuring transparency and fiscal responsibility.

Gamze Ünlü
Vice President External
The VP-external focuses on expanding Nexus’s network by managing existing partnerships and developing new collaborations and sponsorships. This role involves representing Nexus in business forums within ÖS, coordinating the Nexus presence on platforms like Hitract, and handling orders for merchandise. By fostering relationships with external partners, the VP-external creates valuable opportunities for Nexus members and ensures Nexus’s visibility and growth.

Eliza Baartman
Vice President Internal
The VP-internal supports the President by managing Nexus’s internal operations, including organizing General Assemblies, maintaining the board office, and overseeing office hours. This role includes ensuring that board members adhere to a respectful work environment, resolving conflicts if they arise, and supporting the board’s overall stability. Additionally, the VP-internal acts as a substitute for the President if needed, ensuring seamless leadership continuity in all internal matters.

Olivia Kennison
Educational Supervisor
Serving as the main support for students with academic, work environment, or housing concerns, the Educational Supervisor & Work Environment Representative ensures students know where to seek help and follows up on their cases. This role also includes advocating for students to complete course evaluations by creating incentives, thereby improving academic feedback and quality. Maintaining a visible and accessible presence on campus and through social media, the ES & WER ensures that students are aware of available resources and support.

Bedros Butros
Social Media Manager
As the face of Nexus on social media, the SMM is responsible for creating and managing content across platforms, ensuring that Nexus’s online presence aligns with its brand and values. This role includes leading the Social Media Committee (SMC), coordinating content creation, and promoting Nexus’s initiatives and events. The SMM also acts as the meeting minute-taker for Nexus’s board meetings, documenting decisions and maintaining organized records to support effective communication within the board.

Event Manager
The Event Managers are responsible for organizing and executing a wide range of study social events for Nexus members. Leading the Nexus Event Committee (NEC), the EMs plan events that align with Nexus’s mission and foster community among students. They work collaboratively with other event managers across ÖS, manage budgets, and collect feedback to refine and improve future events, ensuring that all activities are impactful, inclusive, and well-executed.

Event Manager
The Event Managers are responsible for organizing and executing a wide range of study social events for Nexus members. Leading the Nexus Event Committee (NEC), the EMs plan events that align with Nexus’s mission and foster community among students.
